Exploring differences in affective polarization between the Nordic countries

Abstract After a period in which affective polarization—defined here as the difference between positive feelings toward in‐parties and negative out‐party animus—has mostly focused on single US case, there has recently been an increase large‐N comparative analyses case studies other countries, including Nordic region. This study adds to this by studying comparing polarization countries. In line with what previous have already indicated, results show that tended be higher Sweden Denmark than Norway, Iceland, Finland. The article also tracks time trends for association ideological distance from parties party evaluations. As expected, placing further oneself left‐right scale more strongly associated affect Sweden.
